Our Final Days!

We can't believe how fast this year has gone! Thank you to the students of room 2 and their families for all your hard work and support this year. It has been a pleasure teaching your child during this wild year.  A few reminders for last few days of our school year... Report cards will be sent home on Friday June 25th, but this is not our last day for classes. 😊 Monday June 28th will be our last day of classes. In the morning, students will be having a pancake breakfast and participating in a Sports Day. Thank you to the McDonalds in Sunridge for this generous donation.  For our Sports Day activities, we are asking to prepare your child with the following (as it will be a hot day): 1. Dress in weather appropriate clothing (lightweight, loose and comfortable, hat, running shoes etc.) 2. Apply a generous amount of sunscreen before the arrival to school 3.  Happy Friday Vista Heights families,  Here are our last set of "words of the week". Students will have their last spelling quiz on Friday June 18th.  As we are wrapping up out science unit on wheels and levers, student will have a quiz on Thursday June 10th. Students can review and study material through a jeopardy labs game that is posted on their Google Classroom.  If you have any questions, please let me know!

 Just a few reminders for everyone!  Attached are our words of the week. Friday will be our spelling test. Keep practicing!  Wednesday May 5th is Hat's on for Mental Heath. Students are allowed to wear their hats in school on Wednesday! :)  Thank you for those who sent in cereal boxes for our math project. Pictures soon to come. You can still send in your cereal boxes for this project. We are asking for these boxes in particular because they are easier to bend when we are midst construction. 

Weekly Wrap up!

 Reminders: There is a system wide PD day on Monday April 26th. There will be school for your students. See you on Tuesday and have a great weekend.  Language Arts: Students this week reviewed contractions, how two words become one. Students also practiced their opinion writing by expressing which R in the recycling loop they thought was the most important. Which R do you think is the most important? Reduce, Reuse, or Recycle? Mathematics: Room 2 continued to practice measuring the area and perimeter of objects through various activities. They designed their dream house, made a Minecraft selfie, played math games and scoot the room. All while determining the area and perimeter. Next week we will begin a math project! Words of the Week and Reminders

Just a few house keeping items. Thursday April 15th is wear pastel day. April 22nd is our last day for Hot Soup lunch.  Reminders about mask, please make sure your child is coming to school with one or two masks. Students are often forgetting or losing them. Our supply in the school is running low at the moment. Thank you!  Here are this weeks words of the week! We will be having our spelling test on April 23rd! 

Weekly Wrap Up!

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a great spring break.  Here is what we have been learning this week.  Language Arts: Students this week worked on writing by writing a report on a classmates spring break. We also made connections between literacy and symbols. Students were to draw an artifact that represented family, where they were born or a piece of nature that they connected to. With those drawn artifacts, students will be representing what they drew into a poem. This poem will be tell their personal story of how they connect to our land. We have a few more chapters of Wonder left! Stay tuned for a wrap up project that summarizes the book.  Mathematics: We are continuing with measurement with a little bit of geometry! The grade 3's are learning how to measure the perimeter of a shape or space, and the grade 4's are learning how to measure the area of shape and space. Friday March 26th

Thank you to those who have touched base with me for parent teacher conferences. Happy Spring Break! Wishing everyone a restful break and we will see your kiddos on Tuesday April 6th!  A quick reminder for our social studies project. We are asking for students to think of and bring in artifacts that are meaningful to them, that connects them with nature and the land. With these artifacts they will be telling their story and how they connect to the land. These artifacts ca be nature items, such as, sticks, rocks, grass etc. They can also be photographs or trinkets! Thank you for your participation with this project.  Here is what we have been learning this week in room 2. Language Arts : Students learned about limerick poems. A limerick poem involves humour, rhyme and rhythm. Students did a great job at following the rhyming pattern and created some very silly and fun poems. Below you will find the words of the week. We will be having our spelling tests on Friday April 9th. Feel free to
