Happy Wednesday and a mid-week check in. Lots of learning has been happening from Monday to today. We have been very busy! Language Arts - We have finished a writing project. Students were asked to complete a writing task to show and apply what they have learned about different types of sentences. They chose a picture to write a story to match it or to explain what was happening in the picture. Each student was given a success criteria check list and together we created a target to guide their writing. Today, we partnered up and students assessed each others writing and provided feedback- 3 glows and 1 grow. Tomorrow, students who are comfortable are going to share what they have written to the class.  Literacy centers are in full steam and all students are staying focused by working hard at becoming stronger readers and writers. Have a wonderful and restful weekend. Oh... and happy thanksgiving! There is no school for your kiddos tomorrow or Monday, so see you on Tuesday.  Earlier this week, we talked about gratitude, what is means to be grateful, and how you can show gratitude.  Today we got to finish our gratitude pumpkin. This will be our reminder for showing kindness and for things we need to be thankful for everyday.  Here is what else we have learned today... Literacy: We sorted out sentences that were simples or compound sentences. Students were very successful in figuring out the difference between the two. See if your child can spot the compound sentences in this blog post. ;)  Math: Today was the last day for the math mystery. Detectives are still working hard to find out who poisoned the pizza, but all will be revealed on Wednesday.  Next week events: Spelling test on Friday (Oct 16),  patterning challenge, and a Social Studies project Take care!

We are working on creating quilt patterns. Watch out for an input/output table to show relationship or pattern that is in their quilt pattern.  Check out some finished quilts so far!  We also had our first spelling test today! I will be sending those home with your child on Monday!  Have a great weekend!
