Thank you to those who have touched base with me for parent teacher conferences. Happy Spring Break! Wishing everyone a restful break and we will see your kiddos on Tuesday April 6th!  A quick reminder for our social studies project. We are asking for students to think of and bring in artifacts that are meaningful to them, that connects them with nature and the land. With these artifacts they will be telling their story and how they connect to the land. These artifacts ca be nature items, such as, sticks, rocks, grass etc. They can also be photographs or trinkets! Thank you for your participation with this project.  Here is what we have been learning this week in room 2. Language Arts : Students learned about limerick poems. A limerick poem involves humour, rhyme and rhythm. Students did a great job at following the rhyming pattern and created some very silly and fun poems. Below you will find the words of the week. Reminders: Please see an important message regarding a survey for the possibility for "Shortened Fridays". Links from the letter are available for you on the side bar (click on the three lines in the top left hand corner).  We would like to hear your voice!  March 17th is "wear green" day! Tomorrow is Hot Soup day and Friday is a PD day. There is no school for your child on Friday. Enjoy a long weekend.  Language Arts: This week, room 2 has been learning about a formula type of poem called a Haiku. Ask your child about Haikus! What is it a formula poem? What is the structure of a Haiku? Here are our words of the week! We will be having our spelling test next Friday (March 19th).  Mathematics:  Room 2 have been become Math Detectives! Gnomes have taking extra portions from the villages stock pile. It's up to us to solve which gnome has been taking the food. Students need to crack the code by interpreting graphs and data.  Science: Students have finished making

  School Council| March 9, 2021   Please mark your calendars and join us for the next School Council meeting on March 9, 2021 at 6:30 pm. I will be presenting a proposal for a Shortened Friday for Professional Learning beginning in the 2021-22 school year. Weekly Wrap up!

Happy Friday!  Please note and disregard the letter sent home about weaving club, "Loom Room". Due to a high volume of interest,  we have decided to cancel the club and practice the art of weaving in our classroom during instructional time!  Here is what we have been learning this week!  Language Arts: All week students have been learning about and writing alliterations! Students were engaged with writing their poems and noticing how alliterations have rhythm. Take a seek peak at our animal alliterations!  Mathematics:  This week, students have been learning about data and graphing. Room 2, learned about different types of graphs, creating data and interpreting data and graphs.  Science:  To make further connections to wheels and axels, students this week made a mini vehicle! They were able to construct and observe how a wheel and axle work together to create a simple machine.  Social Studies: We are preparing our trip to India! Students are almost ready for our trip.
