 Happy Wednesday! 

Event coming up this week. On Friday, it is hat day here at Vista Heights. Students are invited to wear their favourite hat! 

Also on Friday is room 2's spelling test. I hope you have been practicing. On this day students will also be showing me what they know with comparing numbers. 


Language Arts: Students have started to learn instructional writing MUST HAVES. We have focused in on transitional words and phrases that connect steps and ideas for an enjoyable read and flow. Keep and eye out for a big writing project coming your child's way. 

Mathematics: We have been practice comparing numbers to prep for our "Show what you know" on Friday. Ask your child to fill in the missing digit to make this sentence true...

Science: Room 2 has been really busy building Truss Bridges out of popsicle sticks. See below for our progress. Can't wait to show you their final product and how their weight test goes. 




Physical Education: Students continue to strengthen their basketball skills. The month of November is almost up, I wonder which class will win the Class Cup for November! Stay tuned. 

Fine Arts: Learning music with Mrs. Riopel has been a blast. Ask you child what they did involving chopsticks today?

Thank you to those who have touched base with me for parent teacher conferences. Happy Spring Break! Wishing everyone a restful break and we will see your kiddos on Tuesday April 6th!  A quick reminder for our social studies project. We are asking for students to think of and bring in artifacts that are meaningful to them, that connects them with nature and the land. With these artifacts they will be telling their story and how they connect to the land. These artifacts ca be nature items, such as, sticks, rocks, grass etc. They can also be photographs or trinkets! Thank you for your participation with this project.  Here is what we have been learning this week in room 2. Language Arts : Students learned about limerick poems. A limerick poem involves humour, rhyme and rhythm. Students did a great job at following the rhyming pattern and created some very silly and fun poems. Below you will find the words of the week. Monday November 16th!

Quick reminders- Hot soup is tomorrow and Thursday. Students will not have school on Friday due to conferences. Don't forget to book a phone call with me :)  Language Arts - Room two has started reading a new book! We have been listening and reading The One and Only Ivan. Ask you child about what has happened in the book so far. For writing in the upcoming weeks we are beginning to learn the components of instructional writing (i.e. transitional words, lists, and where to place commas etc). Our new words of the week are out, and check your child back pack for their list for them to practice when at home. Students will be tested on their spelling NEXT Friday November 27th.  Mathematics - I have been super impressed with the grade 3/4s learning of comparing numbers. Today they became "outback detectives" and are solving another mystery for who stole all the opal gemstones in Australia!   School Council| March 9, 2021   Please mark your calendars and join us for the next School Council meeting on March 9, 2021 at 6:30 pm. I will be presenting a proposal for a Shortened Friday for Professional Learning beginning in the 2021-22 school year.
