Monday February 1st

Happy Monday and happy February. Welcome back our HUB students, it is great to see you back at Vista Heights!

Just a few reminders....with Valentine's coming up and if you are wanting to participate, your child can hand out valentine's day cards to each student. We are asking that it is cards only, and no additional items such as treats or candy etc. Please have your child come with their cards by Friday the 5th, so that they can quarantine for 72 hrs before handing out. Cards will be handed out to students next Wednesday, the 10th.

If you have any questions about this special day, feel free to contact me.

Here is what we have been learning in Room 2!

Language Arts: We have been diving deep into paragraph writing. Students have been learning about components of a paragraph and what its purpose is when writing. Ask your child about paragraphs and how they are connected to a hamburger.

Our new words of the week are out! Have a look and practice at home. Students will be working on these words in class until Feb. 19th.

Math: Today students completed a "Multiplication Challenge" where they applied their multiplication facts and strategies. Tomorrow we are going to start learning about division!

Science: Last week, students learned about the simple machine, rollers. We explored the history of rollers, where we still see them in our everyday life (e.g., the grocery store), and experimented with some rollers of their own. We discovered that markers made the most efficient rollers, then pencil crayons were also effective, and that regular pencils were the least appropriate tool to use as a roller.

Physical Education: Students are continuing to learn about badminton and working towards the classroom cup!

Fine Arts: Ask students about their Buffalo Hide art, their stories, and connections to indigenous learning!
